Hybrid Flash of Light / Holy Strike
An optional shared support key: Flash of Light for an ally or Holy Strike for your selected melee enemy. Keep Holy Strike independently accessible when tanking.
This macro is based on research and still needs testing in game. Check the requirements and known limits before trying it.

Requirements
- Flash of Light learned; source first-learning level 20. Holy Strike learned; source first-learning level 6. Each branch needs its own learned spell.
- Holy Strike needs a usable melee weapon and a living enemy in melee range. Flash of Light is a cast-time heal.
Known limitations
- Researched design, not tested in the Forever client. Source beta names, acquisition and behaviour may change.
- English spell names only. Unqualified casts use the learned rank selected by the client; reference spell IDs do not force rank 1.
- The first matching branch wins. An out-of-range, obstructed, unlearned or otherwise unusable heal does not fall through to damage; cooldown or resource failure does not choose another spell.
- Keep Alt plus this key free of conflicting bindings. Alt explicitly selects yourself, even with an enemy selected.
- A living friendly mouseover takes priority over your selected enemy. Move the cursor off friendly units and frames when you intend to attack.
- With no living friendly mouseover and no living friendly or hostile target, the unmodified key does nothing. Hold Alt deliberately to heal yourself.
- Enemy mouseover alone does not select a damage recipient. This key does not retarget, pick a target of target, or choose the lowest-health ally.
- One press attempts one spell. No automatic rotation, proc detection, cooldown fallback or cast cancellation is included.
- Before learning Flash of Light, only the Holy Strike branch is usable. A matching friendly recipient still selects the unlearned heal and does not fall through to Holy Strike.
- Holy Strike is a melee action; this is not a ranged damage alternative for a healer standing away from the enemy.
- No /startattack command is added. The macro does not explicitly start swings while a healing branch is selected or when an attempted strike fails; existing auto-attack state and successful spell behaviour still need client checks.
- Keep Holy Strike separately accessible when tanking. A friendly mouseover selects Flash of Light instead, which may interfere with intended threat or Iron Creed timing.
- The September 24 update resolves the earlier Holy Strike cooldown discrepancy. This macro does not inspect cooldown or choose another action when the strike is unavailable.
Notes
- Paladin hybrid set researched 27 September 2026. Keep the same pairings and positions across Holy, Protection and Retribution; these are ergonomic recommendations, not measured damage or healing optima.
- The shared Holy Light / Judgement and Flash of Light / Holy Strike pairings are optional support layouts. Keep their roles stable if selected; Holy Shock is an additional talent-gated choice. Dedicated keys are an equally valid layout.
- All hybrid keys use Alt self, living friendly mouseover, living friendly target, then living hostile target. Choose the question-mark icon when creating a paired key so #showtooltip can follow the selected branch; verify its behaviour in the client.
- This set uses Alt self consistently. Older Protection starter support macros use Shift self; check those separate bindings before mixing sets.
- Ability metadata adapted from Talents Forever / Chris Baldwin, https://talentsforever.com, CC BY 4.0. Original pairing recommendations and macro designs by Allegedly Skilled.
- Situational pair for players choosing a compact support layout: Flash of Light is the faster baseline cast-time heal and Holy Strike is a deliberate melee action. This does not establish matching use frequency or a shared cooldown.
- With Infusion of Light allocated, Flash of Light or Holy Shock critical effects can support a later Holy Light cast. The player chooses that separate follow-up; this macro never detects the proc.
- A dedicated heal and separate Holy Strike are also valid. In a compact layout, retain independent tank-critical strike access without requiring every duplicate heal binding.
