Targeting and features
Alt: yourself — Power Word: Shield → Otherwise: living friendly mouseover — Power Word: Shield → Otherwise: living friendly current target — Power Word: Shield → Otherwise: living hostile current target — Mind Blast → No matching branch: no cast
Requirements
- Power Word: Shield learned; source first-learning level 6; Mind Blast learned; source first-learning level 10. Each action needs its own learned spell.
- Power Word: Shield recipients must satisfy the source party requirement and must not have Weakened Soul. A help condition alone cannot establish eligibility.
Known limitations
- Researched design, not tested in the Forever client. Beta names, requirements and behavior may change.
- English spell names only. Unqualified casts use the learned rank selected by the client; reference spell IDs do not force rank 1.
- The first matching branch wins. An out-of-range, obstructed, unlearned or otherwise unusable helpful action does not fall through to the hostile action. Cooldown or resource failure never chooses another spell.
- Keep Alt plus this key free of conflicting bindings. Alt explicitly selects yourself even with an enemy selected.
- A living friendly mouseover takes priority over your selected enemy. Move the cursor off friendly units and frames when you intend to use the hostile action.
- Enemy mouseover cannot redirect the hostile action. No target-of-target branch, automatic self fallback, retargeting or lowest-health selection is included.
- Dead mouseover units are skipped, so a living selected enemy can still receive the hostile action. With no matching living recipient and no Alt, no spell is selected.
- One press attempts one spell. No rotation, proc detection, cooldown fallback, /stopcasting or explicit /startattack is included. Normal cast and channel interactions still apply.
- Power Word: Shield absorbs damage; it is not a direct heal. No existing shield or Weakened Soul check is performed. A blocked shield attempt does not cast Mind Blast.
- Mind Blast has a cooldown and the source warns of high threat. Keep its standalone spell accessible when precise damage timing matters.
- Shadowform explicitly restricts healing spells; this source does not fully establish classification of absorb and utility actions. Verify shield behavior in the current client and never rely on this macro to cancel Shadowform.
- These paired keys have no channel guard. Avoid pressing during a channel you intend to finish.
Notes
- Keep these paired abilities in the same positions across this class's three specs. Add optional talent keys separately instead of remapping a shared pair.
- Pairings are Allegedly Skilled recommendations for predictable bindings, not measured damage, healing or mana optima. Sharing a key grants no mechanical bonus and does not cast both spells.
- All new hybrid keys use Alt self, living friendly mouseover, living friendly selected target, then living hostile selected target. Choose the question-mark icon for a paired key and verify its tooltip in the client.
- Source first-learning levels and actual talent allocations are distinct requirements; neither a preferred spec label nor extra Legacy points prove spell acquisition.
- Ability metadata adapted from Chris Baldwin / Talents Forever, https://talentsforever.com, CC BY 4.0. Macro designs and pairing recommendations are original Allegedly Skilled work.
- Optional third shared pair: preserve the instant protective action beside a deliberate single-target damage action. Keep dedicated shield access for emergencies so mouseover context cannot interfere.
- Official September 24 notes allow shield overwriting when Weakened Soul is absent; this key does not decide whether replacing a shield is useful.
