Hybrid Chain Heal / Chain Lightning
An optional group-heal / cleaving-damage key for all three Shaman specs: choose the first friendly or hostile recipient explicitly.

Requirements
- Chain Heal learned; source first-learning level 40; Chain Lightning learned; source first-learning level 32. Each action needs its own learned spell.
Known limitations
- Researched design, not tested in the Forever client. Beta names, requirements and behavior may change.
- English spell names only. Unqualified casts use the learned rank selected by the client; reference spell IDs do not force rank 1.
- The first matching branch wins. An out-of-range, obstructed, unlearned or otherwise unusable helpful action does not fall through to the hostile action. Cooldown or resource failure never chooses another spell.
- Keep Alt plus this key free of conflicting bindings. Alt explicitly selects yourself even with an enemy selected.
- A living friendly mouseover takes priority over your selected enemy. Move the cursor off friendly units and frames when you intend to use the hostile action.
- Enemy mouseover cannot redirect the hostile action. No target-of-target branch, automatic self fallback, retargeting or lowest-health selection is included.
- Dead mouseover units are skipped, so a living selected enemy can still receive the hostile action. With no matching living recipient and no Alt, no spell is selected.
- One press attempts one spell. No rotation, proc detection, cooldown fallback, /stopcasting or explicit /startattack is included. Normal cast and channel interactions still apply.
- Chain Lightning can hit additional nearby enemies and break crowd control or engage an unwanted target. Keep this key separate from the single-target primary pair.
- The macro selects only the first recipient. Spell behavior determines later jumps; the macro cannot choose the lowest-health allies or safe enemy bounces.
- Chain Heal is learned after Chain Lightning. A friendly branch before learning Chain Heal fails without a damage fallback.
- The current source limits Chain Heal jumps to party members when its first recipient is a party member. Actual jump eligibility and positioning need client tests.
- Maelstrom Weapon is Lightning Bolt-only in the reviewed source; it does not establish an instant Chain Heal or Chain Lightning.
Notes
- Keep these paired abilities in the same positions across this class's three specs. Add optional talent keys separately instead of remapping a shared pair.
- Pairings are Allegedly Skilled recommendations for predictable bindings, not measured damage, healing or mana optima. Sharing a key grants no mechanical bonus and does not cast both spells.
- All new hybrid keys use Alt self, living friendly mouseover, living friendly selected target, then living hostile selected target. Choose the question-mark icon for a paired key and verify its tooltip in the client.
- Source first-learning levels and actual talent allocations are distinct requirements; neither a preferred spec label nor extra Legacy points prove spell acquisition.
- Ability metadata adapted from Chris Baldwin / Talents Forever, https://talentsforever.com, CC BY 4.0. Macro designs and pairing recommendations are original Allegedly Skilled work.
- Optional third shared pair: both spells chain, giving the group-action position a consistent meaning. Use only when healing jumps or hostile cleave are deliberate.
- This is not a replacement for Healing Wave / Lightning Bolt and does not choose between single-target and group actions.
